Meet Counselor Causey
Counselor L. Causey has served in the Alternative Programs for over 19 years in various roles. She earned her Bachelor's of Science (Psychology) at Tennessee State University, Master's of Education (School Counseling) at Freed-Hardeman University, and continues studies at Freed-Hardeman University in Counseling.
As a native Memphian, Counselor Causey believes every child has a special purpose and her goal is to help each child work toward that purpose with resilience and optimism.
She has received numerous awards and recognition for her work, including The Alternative Programs Spirit Award (2007), Alternative Programs Parent Support Group Recognition (2006), Tennessee Department of Education Tennessee Trailblazer (2010), and Teacher Effectiveness Measure Level 5 (2011-present). Ms. Causey was also the only Professional School Counselor in an alternative school to participate in the TN Counseling Standards Pilot Implementation Initiative Program.
Counselor Causey specializes in providing unique counseling experiences for students with music, hands-on activities, role playing, therapeutic play, technology, and literacy integration.
